Teen urban arts takeover at Castle Quarter this May half term
Organiser: Castle Quarter Free

A creative, positive and free event for teens will land at Castle Quarter in Norwich later this month (28th May), with urban arts workshops hosted in the Castle Gardens, giving young people the chance to explore their artistic side and learn new skills.
On Thursday 28 May, Castle Gardens in the city centre will host a drop-in afternoon session featuring a range of urban arts workshops for 11–18-year-olds, delivered by not-for-profit collective Reprezent Project in partnership with Norfolk County Council’s Targeted Youth Support Service.
Running from 2pm–6pm, the free drop-in event (no booking required) will transform Castle Gardens into a relaxed, youth-focused creative hub where teens can have a go at everything from DJ’ing and breakdancing to rap, lyric writing and graffiti vinyl art. All vinyl art creations made on the day can be taken home.
The Reprezent Project team are a group of creative facilitators who lead workshops that aim to inspire young people to engage with urban arts. Now, the Reprezent Project, accompanied by the Targeted Youth Support Service from Norfolk County Council, are bringing their vibrancy and energy to Castle Quarter this May.
Gemma Hyde, Marketing and Administration Manager at Castle Quarter, said the event is all about giving young people space to get creative: “We’re transforming Castle Gardens into a safe, creative environment where young people can come along, for free and try something new, express themselves and connect with others. It will be a positive, high-energy afternoon, and a fantastic introduction to urban arts for any teens who want to get involved and have a go at Dj-ing, graffiti art or breakdancing.”
Ruben Cruz from the Reprezent Project adds; “With special guests and Norwich-based artists there on the day, including UK rapper Sleeps Cousin and breakers from Kelfx Crew who will teaching breakdance classes, there will be loads of opportunities to try out new skills and get involved. We’ll have a chill-out area too to watch what’s going on, including DJs decks and live lyrical rapping.”
The programme includes:
• Breakdance workshop with Kelfx Crew
• DJ and scratching with DJ Chrome
• Rap and lyric writing with Sleeps Cousin
• Graffiti and doodle art with Apples and Pears
With a mix of creativity, confidence-building and community spirit, the event offers something different for teens during May half term.
Just turn up. No booking needed.
