SUMMARY:Botanical drawing with Rosemary Dodgson
DESCRIPTION:This will be an interactive workshop on the key botanical art techniques to create 3d effects on the 2d media of paper. It is aimed at beginner and intermediate levels. We will be using graphite pencils and/or watercolours and the workshop will be based on demonstrations with individual support. SUMMARY:What the wild does to us: Nick Acheson and Harriet Mead in conversation as part of Norwich Book Festival
DESCRIPTION:Over more than a decade\, Norfolk Wildlife Trust Ambassador Nick Acheson has written a column for Norfolk Magazine\, championing the wildlife of our county. In spring 2026\, in celebration of NWT’s centenary\, 60 of those articles were brought together in This Wild Dream – a portrait of Norfolk Wildlife Trust through its places\, people\, species and ambitions. \nIn parallel\, Nick has worked for more than a year with the Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA) at Massingham Heath. From 2025 to 2026\, over 30 artists visited Massingham to document – in drawing\, painting\, sculpture and print – the restoration of 900 acres of biodiverse grassland and the exuberant wildlife that has returned. This Healing Heath is SWLA’s celebration of that transformation: a West Norfolk valley given back to nature\, rendered in art and in Nick’s words. \nTwo books\, two ways of seeing\, one landscape. SWLA President Harriet Mead and Nick Acheson approach the natural world from different directions – one through paint and line\, one through language – but they share a conviction that paying attention to wild places matters deeply. In this far-reaching\, light-hearted conversation\, they explore nature restoration in Norfolk\, what wild habitats do to us as human beings\, and why we have always needed to capture the living world in art\, in words and in song. \nThis event is part of Norwich Book Festival. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special evening of music and storytelling as part of Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s centenary celebrations\, featuring the extraordinary folk singer Sam Lee\, with support from East Anglian duo Christina Alden & Alex Patterson. \nA Mercury Prize–nominated singer\, song collector and passionate conservationist\, Sam Lee has carved out a unique place in the British music scene. His work breathes new life into traditional songs\, blending ancient melodies with contemporary sounds and powerful storytelling rooted in landscape\, culture and the natural world. \nSam first came to prominence with his acclaimed debut album Ground Of Its Own\, shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize\, and has since continued to challenge and reimagine the boundaries of folk music through albums including The Fade In Time\, Old Wow and his most recent release songdreaming — named one of MOJO’s Top 10 Folk Albums of 2024 and winner of Best European Album at the 2024 Songlines Music Awards. \nBeyond the stage\, Sam is a widely respected voice for nature and culture. A co-founder of Music Declares Emergency and a champion of environmental causes\, his work often explores the deep connections between music\, wildlife and the landscapes we inhabit. His performances combine powerful singing with storytelling and moments of quiet reflection that invite audiences to listen differently — both to music and to the natural world. \nOpening the evening are Christina Alden & Alex Patterson\, multi-instrumentalists and songwriters from East Anglia whose music is rich with harmony\, delicate songwriting and exceptional musicianship.
