SUMMARY:Saria Callas
DESCRIPTION:Saria Callas is a bold multimedia play about aspiring to be a singer while growing up in a place where it is forbidden for women to sing. \nAlready a bottle of red in\, Saria reminisces about her experiences of childhood to womanhood. We revisit Tehran\, the schoolbus parties\, the wannabe prayer-caller and the secret acts of rebellion at the all-girls’ school. \n“Did I get used to oppression\, or is music my way of fighting?” \nNow Saria stands at a crossroads with her child. How does a woman who has experienced firsthand repression of her body and voice react as her child struggles with their own gender identity? This sexy\, camp\, pop-filled play highlights an often unheard perspective of the supportive parent\, unpacking the intersectional grey area of what life is like for women. \nSaria Callas was commissioned by Camden People’s Theatre’s Starting Blocks and was originally co-presented with A Play\, A Pie and A Pint. Devised with support from Oxford Playhouse as part of EVOLVE and public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

SUMMARY:Man or Bear
DESCRIPTION:Katie Hurley and Sarah Hehir present in association with Croydonites: \nMan or Bear is a fast-moving\, darkly comic new play about fear\, friendship and survival inspired by the viral question ‘Would you rather be alone in the woods with a man or a bear?’ \nBlending kitchen-sink realism\, music and bold physical sequences\, it follows three generations of women in the lead-up to an act of violence. \nRather than centring the perpetrator\, the play turns its focus to women’s resilience\, humour and solidarity\, offering a poetic and unsettling reflection on modern day misogyny.

SUMMARY:Michael Akadiri: Don't Call Me Uncle!
DESCRIPTION:Following two hit UK tours\, Biggest Award in Comedy nominee and resident (junior) Doctor Michael Akadiri prescribes Norwich Theatre Stage Two with a potent dose of his latest offering\, Don’t Call Me Uncle! \nMulti-award-winning comedian Michael is proud to wear many hats: doctor\, husband & father. Evidently\, that list does not include uncle. \nYet\, despite only being in his early 30s\, “the supremely talented and likeable” (Metro) doctor\, for the first time ever\, was recently called uncle in public (a term usually reserved for elders!). This has sent him spiralling! \nJoin the ” hugely entertaining” (Chortle) Akadiri as he fights this lurid allegation\, contemplates the difference between perception and reality\, all whilst keeping the laughs flowing with his trademark “sharp-wit” (Chortle) & “politically punchy” (Guardian) anecdotes. \nAs seen on Comedy Central LIVE\, ITV’s Stand Up Sketch & Channel 4’s Stand Up to Cancer. \nAs heard on Capital Xtra’s Breakfast Show\, LBC & BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends \nTour support for Jason Manford.

SUMMARY:Co.next – Speak with Belief – Public Speaking\, Presence and Owning the Room with Joe Arkley
DESCRIPTION:Whether you’re pitching an idea\, leading a meeting\, networking with confidence or presenting to a room full of people\, the ability to communicate well is one of the most valuable skills you’ll ever develop. \nJoin Co.next for an inspiring and interactive workshop with Joe Arkley\, professional actor whose career has taken him from extensive stage work with the Royal Shakespeare Company to villainous turns on screen in BBC dramas including The Capture and Wreck. \nDrawing on years of performing under pressure\, Joe will share practical techniques that anyone can use to become a more connected\, engaging\, and authentic communicator. \nThis is not about becoming an actor. Most speaking training asks people to learn a system. Joe asks you to use what you already have. Public speaking shouldn’t be about becoming something you’re not — it’s about leaning deeper into who you already are. When we do that\, we stop performing and start connecting. The connection is what people remember and take away with them. \nWhether you’re preparing for interviews\, pitching ideas\, leading meetings or simply wanting to feel more confident speaking up at work\, you’ll leave with practical techniques you can start using immediately. \n\nDuring This Workshop You’ll Explore \n\nPractical techniques to manage nerves and channel adrenaline rather than fight it.\nBreath and voice — warming up your instrument and discovering the full range of what your voice can do.\nBody language and presence — bringing awareness to your non-verbal communication and learning when to magnify or adjust it.\nHow to connect with an audience rather than trying to be perfect.\nThe art of listening — how deeper listening makes you a more powerful communicator and collaborator.\nTips you can immediately apply to presentations\, networking and everyday workplace conversations.\n\nStorytelling and speech structure — explored further in one-to-one and Masterclass sessions with Joe.

SUMMARY:Forget About Me
DESCRIPTION:In a remote\, north-east village\, something lurks in the bathroom: something Dylan struggles to remember\, which even his dad’s deadly DIY skills can’t fix… \nDesigner-performer Dylan Howells weaves psychological illusions and fragmented memories into a magical\, chilling tale of a home that won’t stay still. Part magic show\, part ghost story\, this isn’t your typical conjuring act: mind-bending mentalism and spine-tingling effects blur the line between reality and fiction. \nA twisted tale that gets under your skin\, lingering long after the lights come up. \n‘Howells’ design is genius’ ★★★★ Stage\, (for It’s The Economy\, Stupid!).
