SUMMARY:Songs of the Wild: Sam Lee live in Norwich
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special evening of music and storytelling as part of Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s centenary celebrations\, featuring the extraordinary folk singer Sam Lee\, with support from East Anglian duo Christina Alden & Alex Patterson. \nA Mercury Prize–nominated singer\, song collector and passionate conservationist\, Sam Lee has carved out a unique place in the British music scene. His work breathes new life into traditional songs\, blending ancient melodies with contemporary sounds and powerful storytelling rooted in landscape\, culture and the natural world. \nSam first came to prominence with his acclaimed debut album Ground Of Its Own\, shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize\, and has since continued to challenge and reimagine the boundaries of folk music through albums including The Fade In Time\, Old Wow and his most recent release songdreaming — named one of MOJO’s Top 10 Folk Albums of 2024 and winner of Best European Album at the 2024 Songlines Music Awards. \nBeyond the stage\, Sam is a widely respected voice for nature and culture. A co-founder of Music Declares Emergency and a champion of environmental causes\, his work often explores the deep connections between music\, wildlife and the landscapes we inhabit. His performances combine powerful singing with storytelling and moments of quiet reflection that invite audiences to listen differently — both to music and to the natural world. \nOpening the evening are Christina Alden & Alex Patterson\, multi-instrumentalists and songwriters from East Anglia whose music is rich with harmony\, delicate songwriting and exceptional musicianship. Inspired by the landscapes and wildlife around them\, their songs explore the relationship between people and the natural world. \nThe duo have toured extensively across the UK and Europe\, including appearances at major folk festivals and venues such as Celtic Connections and St David’s Hall\, and have supported the acclaimed folk group Show of Hands on their concert hall tour. Their work has also featured on BBC Radio 4\, and their recordings have been streamed over a million times. \nSet within the beautiful surroundings of St Andrew’s Hall\, this special concert promises an evening of spellbinding music celebrating the landscapes\, wildlife and traditions that have inspired generations — and marking 100 years of Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s work for nature. \nDoors open – 7:00pm\nSupport – 7:45 – 8:25pm\nInterval – 8:25 – 8:45pm\nSam Lee – Set 1 – 8:45 – 9:30pm\nInterval – 9:30 – 9:50pm\nSam Lee – Set 2 – 9:50 – 10:40pm\nFinish – 10:40pm \nTicket income helps support Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s work protecting wildlife and wild places across the county as we celebrate our centenary year. For this event we have included a Centenary Supporter ticket for those who would like to support Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s work protecting wildlife and wild places while enjoying a special evening of music. \nFind out more about our centenary year by visiting norfolkwildlifetrust.org.uk/Centenary.

SUMMARY:Moulin Scrooge
DESCRIPTION:Because we could\, could\, could. \nIn the hey day of Soho\, there was one place that really put it on the map. A famed club where the chichi and the chavvy would party like it’s 1885. That club was the Moulin Beige\, and you’re invited to the (Xmas) party of the year. \nPeople come from far and wide to witness Satôn\, the one they call the rough diamond. As the greatest star of the “Beige”\, her\, and the infamous club owner Astrid Zeneca would delight audiences with a heady mix of booze\, pills and way too many medleys. But the club is in financial dire straits – will the Duke (of York) become an investor in their business? Or is he just a dirty old sleaze who doesn’t sweat? \nEnter You-in McGregor\, a young bogan from Brisbane who falls madly for Satôn. Will she give up her gig for love? \nIn a madcap adults-only panto from the crazy minds of Trevor Ashley and Phil Scott\, come and join the fun in this twist on a well known fable as Satôn is visited by clients past\, present and emerging.
