SUMMARY:Suffolk Singers Recital and Afternoon Tea
DESCRIPTION:Suffolk Singers\, a renowned ‘a capella’ choir\, are delighted to return to Binham Priory to give a recital on Sunday 24th May at 3pm. \nThe programme is an eclectic mix of sacred and secular works celebrating the enduring power of the human voice\, from the luminous polyphony of the Renaissance to the rich\, expressive music of modern composers. \nWe will be singing well-known choral anthems including Bruckner’s Ave Maria and Palestrina’s Exsultate Deo and we are very excited to perform a version of Albinoni’s much-loved Adagio\, which has been set to the words of Ave Maria and arranged especially for Suffolk Singers by Jamie John Hutchings. \nAmerican composer and arranger Moses Hogan brings a different spiritual dimension to the programme through his powerful arrangements of music that draw on the legacy of African American sacred song\, offering both exuberant energy and profound emotional resonance. \nOn a lighter note\, the programme includes an arrangement of ‘My love is like a red\,red rose’ and two Shakespearean songs which capture the charm and elegance of Victorian part-song writing. \nThe programme reaches into the 21st century with the contemporary voice of Elaine Hagenberg and the modern harmonic language of Kim André Arnesen. We will be performing Three Antiphons of Hildegard of Bingen\, written for the choir by Jamie John Hutchings\, demonstrating that choral music continues to evolve while remaining deeply connected to its past. \nThe recital will last for around an hour and a retiring collection will be taken. \nAfternoon tea is available before the concert at The Parlour\, adjacent to Binham Priory. Booking is essential.

SUMMARY:National Theatre Live - The Audience
DESCRIPTION:NT Live – The Audience – Encore \nAfter a sold out NT Live Screening of The Audience in March\, we are excited to offer an encore of The Audience on Wednesday 27 May. \nHelen Mirren stars as Queen Elizabeth II in this Olivier and Tony Award® -winning hit production by Peter Morgan\, directed by Stephen Daldry. \nFor 60 years\, Queen Elizabeth II met with each of her 12 prime ministers in a private weekly meeting. This meeting is known as The Audience. From Winston Churchill to Margaret Thatcher and David Cameron\, the Queen advised her prime ministers on matters both public and personal. Through these private audiences\, we see glimpses of the woman behind the crown and witness the moments that shaped a monarch. \nPeter Morgan’s Netflix phenomenon The Crown was based on this hit play that was captured live from London’s West End in 2013 and went on to become one of the most-watched NT Live productions. \nDoors: 6.30 pm | screening: 7 pm \nBooking essential.

SUMMARY:UEA Green Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:A film of joy and wonder\, EVERY LITTLE THING offers profound truths in a deceptively simple story. In tending to these fragile yet resilient hummingbirds\, Terry Masear finds a sense of healing from her own past. Her diminutive patients — brought into sharp focus through breathtaking\, beautifully detailed photography — become memorable protagonists in their own right. The compassion and empathy that Masear shows her Lilliputian charges serves as a lesson to us all — a reminder that in the smallest of acts\, and in the tiniest of creatures\, we might find grace. \nEvery Little Thing is a film by SALLY AITKEN\, a twice Emmy®-nominated director and writer highly regarded for her visually arresting work characterised by compassion\, and humour. As a filmmaker she delights in unknown stories\, adventurous collaborations and the world’s complexities. \nGREEN FILM FESTIVAL @UEA is an annual celebration of environmental films from around the world. We celebrate and support the efforts of filmmakers\, communities\, activists and allies working towards the shared goals of global sustainability and climate justice.
