DESCRIPTION:Join The Magdalene Group for the 2026 Night‑time Strut\, a powerful evening walk through Norwich raising awareness of VAWG. \nNow in its third year\, the Strut brings our community together to honour the women and girls whose lives have been taken by male violence and to stand in solidarity for a future free from sexual violence\, abuse and harassment at every level in society. \nWith VAWG now accounting for nearly one in five recorded crimes in England and Wales\, this event is more urgent than ever. Building on the impact of last year’s Strut\, we gather once again in remembrance\, action and hope. \nThe government’s VAWG strategy is to half the number of women and girls affected by violence\, reducing VAWG by 50% does not go far enough–this year to date\, 107 women have been killed. This year\, the Night‑Time Strut is proudly supported by Norwich City Football Club. Their involvement strengthens our focus on the essential role men play in ending VAWG.\nTrue change requires men to be active allies\, speaking up\, standing up\, and showing up. By walking together\, we amplify the message that safety\, respect and equality are everyone’s responsibility. When communities show up\, attitudes shift and safety becomes something we build\, not just hope for. \nThe route: coming together at Millennium Plain:
The walk begins at Millennium Plain and leads participants through Norwich city centre towards Carrow Road\, the home of Norwich City Football Club\, where walkers will pause for a short break. From there\, we will return together to Millennium Plain for an evening of remembrance and reflection. At the end of the route\, participants will be joined by the uplifting Invidia Voices Rock & Soul Choir\, whose performance will set a powerful and unifying tone for the evening. Norwich poet Helen Ivory will then share a poem written in response to violence against women and girls. This will be followed by a moving reading of the names of women and girls who have lost their lives to male violence over the past year\, a moment at the very heart of the Strut. These collective reflections highlight the importance of awareness\, education and community action. \nTickets & other ways to support our work:

DESCRIPTION:This is the story of Homo sapiens… us \nHost of BBC landmark show ‘Human’\, Ella Al-Shamahi\, palaeoanthropologist\, TV presenter\, explorer and stand-up presents a talk on our remarkable origin story. \nOnce upon a time we shared this planet with many species of human – it has been said that our world was a bit like Lord of the Rings. To start with we Homo sapiens weren’t that remarkable\, our origins were in fact rather humble and yet somehow today we are the only ones left. But we didn’t just survive against all odds\, we thrived\, innovated and travelled like no other species of human – becoming the explorer species who built cities\, iPhones and painted the Sistine Chapel. Our success was profound\, but how on Earth did it happen and at what cost? \nElla Al-Shamahi started studying evolution as a creationist and so she interweaves her own story demonstrating the power of tribalism not just in the past\, but also in the present. Expect a talk that draws on the latest discoveries\, heart\, humour and wild expedition stories. \nAl-Shamahi is a National Geographic Explorer specialising in searching for fossils in Palaeolithic caves in politically unstable\, hostile and disputed territories.
