SUMMARY:Garth Marenghi This Bursted Earth (Warm Up)
DESCRIPTION:Horror author Nick Steen is having visions… A sinister Black Steeple; eerie lights in the sky that look like a Catherine wheel but are not remotely a Catherine wheel… Plus a giant skeleton with a moustache. Are they omens? Auguries? Portenderings of things to come? (Spoiler – yes\, they are). \nFor Nick Steen’s imagination is bursting out of his brain and threatening to burst in turn the entirety of Stalkford. \nCan Nick stop the aforesaid bursting? Or have things already slightly burst regardless? And will there ultimately be a grand finale to this three-book series (aka a trilogy) or a more open-ended conclusion in order to leave potential room for further sequels? (That\, btw\, will ultimately be Garth’s decision.) \nFrom the fevered imaginata of Horror Fiction’s Grand Frightener Garth Marenghi\, author of Sunday Times-Bestselling Garth Marenghi’s TerrorTome and Garth Marenghi’s Incarcerat\, come three freshly rancid tales of…THIS BURSTED EARTH…

SUMMARY:2:22 A Ghost Story
DESCRIPTION:Following seven West End seasons\, a record-breaking UK and Ireland tour and twelve productions across the globe\, the stage phenomenon 2:22 A Ghost Story returns to Norwich. \nWinner of BEST NEW PLAY at the WhatsOnStage Awards\, this edge-of-your-seat\, supernatural thriller is written by Danny Robins\, creator of the hit BBC podcasts Uncanny and The Battersea Poltergeist\, and has featured a host of acclaimed star performances (including Lily Allen\, Cheryl\, Stacey Dooley\, Tom Felton\, Jake Wood and James Buckley). It’s a brilliantly funny and adrenaline-filled night where secrets emerge and ghosts may or may not appear… What do you believe? And do you dare discover the truth? \n“THERE’S SOMETHING IN OUR HOUSE. I HEAR IT EVERY NIGHT\, AT THE SAME TIME” \nJenny believes her new home is haunted\, but her husband Sam isn’t having any of it. They argue with their first dinner guests\, old friend Lauren and new partner Ben. Can the dead really walk again? Belief and scepticism clash\, but something feels strange and frightening\, and that something is getting closer\, so they’re going to stay up… until 2:22… and then they’ll know. \nCasting to be announced.

SUMMARY:Janina Ramirez - 'Legenda' In Conversation
DESCRIPTION:From the bestselling author of FEMINA\, a brilliant reappraisal of the medieval women whose lives have been exploited over centuries for political\, nation-building ends. \nIn LEGENDA\, historian Professor Janina Ramirez peels back the layers of time to reveal how the identities of women have been co-opted by those intent on crafting national identities. \nTheir names are well-known\, and summaries of their achievements have been recited in classrooms for decades\, but medieval women like Joan of Arc\, Lady Godiva and Isabella of Castile have been misrepresented\, their stories twisted and weaponised. \nMeanwhile\, ground-breaking 18th and 19th-century women who blazed a trail through revolutionary Europe have been forgotten\, their legacies too easily dismissed or ignored. \nQuestioning established narratives and searching for the real women behind the legends\, join Janina Ramirez in conversation as she interrogates what defines a nation and who gets to build it\, shining a light on how history is so often hijacked to serve the ideological and political interests of the present. \nProfessor Janina Ramirez is a best-selling author\, presenter\, lecturer and researcher. She is Director of Studies for History of Art at Harris Manchester College\, University of Oxford\, and Visiting Professor in Medieval Studies at the University of Lincoln. She has published widely on medieval history\, art and literature\, has written both fiction and non-fiction for adults and younger readers\, and has taught and researched across a broad chronological sweep\, covering everything from the sculptures of antiquity to post-modern architecture. \nShe has also written and presented documentaries across the world for over 15 years\, including ‘Raiders of the Lost Past\,’ ‘The Private Lives of Kings\,’ and ‘Art Lovers Guide’. She is Lifelong President of Gloucester History Festival\, Fellow of the Royal Historical Society\, Royal Society of Arts\, Universities of York and Gloucestershire and City Lit. \nThis event will feature an interview\, audience Q&A and book signing. \nLegenda is published on 6 Nov 2025 by WH Allen.

SUMMARY:Ian Stone: Looking for the Wow
DESCRIPTION:Life can’t just be the humdrum\, the mundane and the routine before the inevitable slide to disease\, decay and death. \nWhy can’t we sneak in a bit of awesome\, a tad of amazing and maybe a smidge of wonderful? A forest canopy opening onto a huge vista would be enchanting for some but my ancestors wandered in the desert for forty years\, I think we’ve been outdoors enough. Others get their fix from the spiritual but I’ve been harbouring a grudge against God since my mother stopped me going to Arsenal after my Barmitzvah. \nForty-nine years ago. ’God will be watching’ she said. Well\, at least he got to see the game. The point is\, life could be so much better\, so I’m on the lookout. Come and join me on the hunt.
