SUMMARY:SMOKE and You Are Loved
DESCRIPTION:SMOKE \nCreated and performed by Alexis Gregory \nDirected by Campbell X \n+ You Are Loved panel. \nAlex wakes one morning to a new message on Insta from his boyfriend Ben. But Ben died two years ago. What appears to be an everyday hack soon turns into something else as Alex’s life spirals out of control. \nSMOKE is the newest play from acclaimed queer theatre-maker Alexis Gregory (“Riot Act”) whose work has appeared in the West End\, across London\, the UK\, and internationally\, and is directed by the award-winning filmmaker Campbell X (“Stud Life”\, “Low Rider”). \nRaw\, and stripped back\, the conversational SMOKE is a hard-hitting\, savage comic-thriller about another dead gay guy on social media\, drugs\, the Demon Twink in Starbucks\, and Mariah Carey. \nNon-profit organisation You Are Loved (YAL)\, created in response to disproportionately high rates of premature deaths from suicide and drugs in the LGBTQ+ community\, focuses on addressing the root causes\, including stigma\, shame and loneliness. \nPost each SMOKE performance\, YAL will host a specially curated forty-five minute panel\, unique to each town and city on the tour\, involving local LGBTQ+ figures\, exploring how SMOKE’s themes crossover with YAL’s work\, in mobilising the community to get better at talking\, sharing and supporting each other. \nSMOKE and You Are Loved tour in a unique partnership combining culture and community\, presenting two interlinked events for audiences. \nSMOKE is funded by Arts Council England.

SUMMARY:Courtney Pine - A Modern Day Jazz Story 1986-2026
DESCRIPTION:Celebrating four decades at the forefront of British jazz\, Courtney Pine returns to the stage this year with Out of the Ghetto: A Modern Day Jazz Story — a powerful retrospective tour. \nFrom his landmark debut Journey to the Urge Within to his Mercury-nominated Modern Day Jazz Stories and deeply personal House of Legends project\, Pine has consistently redefined what it means to be a jazz artist in the UK. Blending the spiritual legacy of jazz with the pulse of reggae\, soul\, hip-hop\, and drum & bass\, his musical lens tells the deeply personal story of a generation and a nation finding its voice through sound. \nThis special live show brings together key moments from Pine’s remarkable catalogue\, alongside previously unreleased material reimagined with the fire and freedom that have made his performances legendary. \nBoth a celebration and a reflection\, Out of the Ghetto: A Modern Day Jazz Story honours the resilience\, creativity\, and community that shaped Pine’s journey from London streets to international stages. Expect a night of deep grooves\, soaring saxophone\, and the unmistakable energy of an artist who continues to push jazz forward while staying true to his roots.
