SUMMARY:Wilder Communities - Rooting together: a stroll around Happy Healthy Hethersett's community project
DESCRIPTION:In 2022\, volunteers from the Hethersett Environmental Action Team (HEAT) transformed a derelict skate park into a thriving\, wildlife-friendly community garden. The space now features raised beds\, fruit trees and welcoming seating areas. \nBuilding on this success\, a Community Tree Nursery was established in 2023 on the grounds of the Youth Club\, just across the road. Its aim is to grow trees from locally gathered seed\, strengthening biodiversity and preserving local provenance. On this tour learn how it all began\, how they got their projects off the ground and their plans for the future.

SUMMARY:Canoe safari: pizza and paddle on Hickling Broad
DESCRIPTION:This unique guided paddle takes you into parts of the reserve that simply can’t be reached on foot or by boat\, offering a rare chance to explore the hidden dykes\, quiet backwaters and wildlife-rich channels at the heart of the Broads. Led by our experienced guides\, you’ll glide through reedbeds\, watch dragonflies skim the water\, and discover the secluded corners that make Hickling one of Norfolk’s most remarkable wild places. With expert interpretation along the way\, this slow\, peaceful journey gives you time to really take in the sounds\, sights and stories of the Broad. \nAfter your adventure on the water\, return to shore and enjoy freshly prepared pizza\, included as part of your experience. It’s the perfect moment to relax\, compare sightings\, and enjoy the setting from dry land. With strictly limited places\, our canoe safaris offer an intimate\, low-impact way to encounter Hickling — ideal for adults\, families and anyone wanting to explore the reserve in a more immersive and memorable way. \nPlease note that the minimum age for children is 6 – please advise child ages at time of booking to ensure an appropriately-sized buoyancy aid is available. Canoes seat a maximum of three people. Each canoe must include at least one adult. \nVegan\, vegetarian and gluten-free pizzas will be available\, please specify your preference on the booking form.
