SUMMARY:Pub Tales
DESCRIPTION:Join comedy musician Chris Sainton-Clark as he takes you through his troublesome and hilarious experiences of working in pubs. After years of toiling away behind a rural bar\, witnessing fist-fights\, fruit-machine addicts\, lecherous old men and compulsive liars\, Chris decided to consolidate his experiences into song form. His tales include stories of a legend in the pub known only for his blatant lies\, a drag queen who could make any bigot get up and dance\, a hopeless romantic named Barry and many more. \nEach of Chris’ songs has a satirical outlook at pub culture and toxic masculinity that will leave you thinking\, ‘I know that person’ or maybe… ‘I am that person’. Armed with just a guitar\, a whole lot of sarcasm and many musical stories\, Pub Tales with its inventive musical take on comical observation\, is sure to keep you entertained. \nSince embarking on his journey as a storyteller\, Chris has played Glastonbury Festival\, won 9 theatre awards\, and sold out a tour in New Zealand. He blends comedy\, rhythmic guitar patterns and spoken word together to create a truly unique sound\, that draws on something entirely relatable to anyone who’s ever stepped foot in a pub.

SUMMARY:Absent Friends
DESCRIPTION:By kind permission of Cassarotto Ramsay \nColin must be comforted in his grief over the death of his fiancee so his friends\, who never met the girl\, arrange a tea party for him. Understandably they are on edge wondering what to say\, but there is more to their unease: Diane and Paul\, John and Evelyn\, and Marge and her husband are perpetually out of circulation with trivial illnesses are all kept together by a mixture of business and cross-marital emotional ties. By the time Colin arrives for tea\, their tenseness contrasts dramatically with his air of cheerful relaxation. He is the only happy one among them and his and insesitive analyses of their trobles causes each of them to break down. \nSponsored by Clapham Collinge

SUMMARY:Business in Motion: Public Speaking
DESCRIPTION:Forming part of Business in Motion\, a brand-new professional development series\, this unique hands-on workshop is designed to combine the power of theatre skills and creativity to help professionals to deliver their message with impact when speaking in public. \nLed by Joseph Arkley from the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC)\, during this one-day workshop\, you’ll learn how to apply practical theatre techniques such as connecting with voice\, understanding and utilising body language\, breathing and vocal range to confidently deliver engaging presentations that forge deeper connections with your audience. \nStructure: \nMorning session: You’ll undertake a comprehensive range of exercises which target the key areas of effective public speaking. This will involve working individually and in pairs to adopt and apply the creative techniques you’ll be learning. \nAfternoon session: One-on-one focused coaching\, leaning into overcoming personal challenges which may have previously led to public speaking being a barrier. \nConcluding session: Individuals will have the opportunity to present something to the group from the Norwich Theatre Playhouse stage. If you are working on a presentation or particular speech\, you are more than welcome to bring this along to work on during the workshop.
