SUMMARY:On The Edge
DESCRIPTION:On the eroding cliff edge\, in the fictional Norfolk village of Suffenham\, pensioner David awaits the oncoming storm that threatens his home.\nWhen he refuses to evacuate\, a tense standoff ensues\, and he is forced to endure a string of visitors who think they can talk some sense into him. As the storm hits\, David begins to wonder if he’s the only sane one left…\nInspired in part by the ever eroding cliffs of Happisburgh\, On The Edge is a funny\, fast moving play that follows a delightfully mismatched group of characters thrown together over three increasingly farcical hours.\nOn The Edge\, by Rob White was one of the winners of the 2025 Coastal Playwriting Competition\, which was devised and hosted by our Theatre President\, Suranne Jones.

SUMMARY:3 Migrant Women
DESCRIPTION:Three women. Three journeys. One shared search for home. \n3 Migrant Women is a striking and intimate exploration of migration\, memory\, and the profound cost of leaving everything behind. \nCreated and performed by the artists whose stories it tells\, the production weaves together movement\, song\, and storytelling to illuminate the reality of crossing borders\, both physical and emotional. \nThrough the lives of Etta\, Daria\, and Deniz and her husband Suat\, we witness the moments of departure\, survival and transformation: the fragments of a life packed into a suitcase\, the fear and hope of starting again\, and the quiet strength required to rebuild a sense of self in an unfamiliar world. \n3 Migrant Women moves beyond headlines and statistics to centre lived experience\, celebrating resilience\, humour and the universal desire for home.

SUMMARY:The HandleBards: As You Like It
DESCRIPTION:Pedalling from venue to venue with all of their set\, props and costumes on the back of their bikes\, the HandleBards are a four-strong troupe of actors who are spending the summer bringing environmentally sustainable Shakespeare to venues across the UK. \nJoin the troupe at Norwich Theatre Playhouse for a fantastically funny bicycle-powered production of Shakespeare’s ‘As You Like It’. \nWhat’s the play about? Well – Rosalind and her cousin Celia flee to the Forest of Arden\, where they bump into Rosalind’s love interest Orlando. However\, Rosalind is disguised as a young man. Cue some local Shepherds getting involved and the stage is set for a wild ride of wooing\, hilarious mistaken identity and the odd wrestling match.

SUMMARY:Saria Callas
DESCRIPTION:Saria Callas is a bold multimedia play about aspiring to be a singer while growing up in a place where it is forbidden for women to sing. \nAlready a bottle of red in\, Saria reminisces about her experiences of childhood to womanhood. We revisit Tehran\, the schoolbus parties\, the wannabe prayer-caller and the secret acts of rebellion at the all-girls’ school. \n“Did I get used to oppression\, or is music my way of fighting?” \nNow Saria stands at a crossroads with her child. How does a woman who has experienced firsthand repression of her body and voice react as her child struggles with their own gender identity? This sexy\, camp\, pop-filled play highlights an often unheard perspective of the supportive parent\, unpacking the intersectional grey area of what life is like for women. \nSaria Callas was commissioned by Camden People’s Theatre’s Starting Blocks and was originally co-presented with A Play\, A Pie and A Pint. Devised with support from Oxford Playhouse as part of EVOLVE and public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

SUMMARY:Spike Milligan's and Ronnie Barker's THE PHANTOM RASPBERRY BLOWER OF OLD LONDON
DESCRIPTION:Something is rotten in Old London Town… \nIn Victorian England\, a rotten\, raspberry blower is claiming the lives of the upper-classes. The dark alleyways and moonlit graveyards of London are alive with the repetitive dins of the Phantom. \nInspector Corner of the Yard and his faithful sidekick\, Sergeant Bowles\, are fed up with these din-dins. The case is afoot. Will the Phantom be uncloaked? All will be revealed… particularly if the Phantom uncloaks himself. \nImmortalised by The Two Ronnies\, this Jack the Ripper parody is raspberry-jam-packed with Spike Milligan’s and Ronnie Barker’s love of surreal absurdism\, clever puns\, near-the-knuckle ribaldry\, quick-fire jokes and famous wordplay. \nCelebrating the 50th anniversary since its original broadcast in 1976\, this newly adapted stage play brings the Phantom back to life like never before. Presented by Hambledon Productions with the kind permission of Spike Milligan Productions Ltd and Handles for Forks Ltd.

SUMMARY:Man or Bear
DESCRIPTION:Katie Hurley and Sarah Hehir present in association with Croydonites: \nMan or Bear is a fast-moving\, darkly comic new play about fear\, friendship and survival inspired by the viral question ‘Would you rather be alone in the woods with a man or a bear?’ \nBlending kitchen-sink realism\, music and bold physical sequences\, it follows three generations of women in the lead-up to an act of violence. \nRather than centring the perpetrator\, the play turns its focus to women’s resilience\, humour and solidarity\, offering a poetic and unsettling reflection on modern day misogyny.
