SUMMARY:Two Halves of Guinness
DESCRIPTION:In an exceptional exploration of one of Britain’s greatest actors\, Zeb Soanes brings the life of Sir Alec Guinness to stage across the UK\, marking the 25th anniversary of his death. With nearly 70plays\, 50 films\, over a dozen television dramas\, and two Oscars to his name\, Sir Alec Guinness’ career spanned Shakespeare\, the beloved Ealing comedies\, and Hollywood classics. Yet he feared he would only be remembered for one role: Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars. \nTwo Halves of Guinness is a witty\, heartfelt tour through Guinness’ extraordinary life and career – his encounters with John Gielgud\, Shakespeare\, the greats of stage and screen\, and the galaxy of stars who shaped his journey. \nAcclaimed broadcaster and actor Zeb Soanes stars as Alec Guinness. Known as one of the most recognisable voices in the UK through his years on BBC Radio 4 (Today Programme\, Shipping Forecast) and now on Classic FM\, Soanes also acted in numerous BBC radio dramas alongside David Warner\, Toby Jones\, and Simon Russell Beale. When Soanes was 17 years old\, he wrote a letter of admiration to Sir Alec Guinness – his hero – and received a neatly hand-written reply within a week\, wishing him luck in his career. Now\, decades later\, Soanes embodies Guinness on stage\, lending his rich voice and virtuosity to once again breathe life into the legendary actor and the unforgettable figures who shaped his career.

SUMMARY:Sherlock Holmes & The Sign Of Four: A radio play live on stage
DESCRIPTION:“When you have eliminated the impossible\, then whatever remains\, however improbable\, must be the truth!” \nAfter their hugely successful portrayal as Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson in The Hound Of The Baskervilles\, Colin Baker (from Doctor Who\, The Brothers) and Terry Molloy (from The Archers\, Doctor Who) are back on stage in another classic live radio play! \nWhat begins as a curious puzzle soon becomes a terrifying murder hunt\, with the discovery of a missing fortune\, a locked room and the murdered body of Bartholomew Sholto – but who committed these heinous\, inexplicable crimes\, and how do they involve a map of the far-off Agra Fort? \nThe case of The Sign Of Four stretches all of Sherlock Holmes’ powers of deduction in a mystery that was born in war-torn India and now stalks Victorian London\, fuelled by the vengeance of a seemingly unstoppable\, cut-throat band. \nWith the help of the Baker Street Irregulars and Doctor Watson’s new love\, Mary\, can Holmes finally bring the gang’s malicious leader to justice\, recover the stolen treasure\, and reveal the hideous truth behind the riddle of The Sign Of Four?” \nPresented by Crime And Comedy Theatre Company as a radio-play-live-on-stage. The setting is a radio studio\, the actors ready as if for a radio broadcast\, and the sound effects created live\, all combining to transport you to Victorian London\, as they bring to life this classic tale from the father of the modern detective story\, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

SUMMARY:Imperfect Storms: New Work from East Anglian Writers
DESCRIPTION:The Writers’ Guild of Great Britain and Norwich Theatre Stage Two present another evening of bold\, surprising new writing by East Anglian writers. \nThe writers featured have worked across TV\, film\, theatre\, radio\, fiction\, comedy\, poetry and video games\, and the programme reflects that variety. Expect a lively mix of voices\, forms and ideas – these are works in progress\, fresh off the printer\, presented with script in hand. \nNo two showcases are ever the same. Last year\, shows explored the secret lives of grizzly bears\, ghosts behaving badly in suburbia\, and parents waging quiet wars over school bake sales. Stories jumped from Napoleonic duels to dating apps\, viral AI scandals to wartime testimony and darkly comic confessions. The shows have also been a springboard for work that has gone on to be funded by the Arts Council and professionally toured. So come along so you can say you saw it here first! \nThe evening is curated by writer-performer Stephen Keyworth\, of the Intellectual Hooligans\, whose Radio 4 credits include The Princess Bride and The Man Who Fell to Earth (winner of the 2025 New York Radio Awards Grand Tower Trophy). Drawing on experience across theatre\, radio and live performance\, he brings together writers\, performers and audiences for an exciting evening of risk and surprises. \nThe Writers’ Guild of Great Britain has been representing and campaigning for working writers since 1959. This showcase is supported by Norwich Theatre’s Creative Development department. \n“The Writers’ Guild is a bright spot in a dark world\, and I feel very grateful to it.”\nTom Stoppard

SUMMARY:Box Tale Soup presents: 1984
DESCRIPTION:‘To the future or to the past\, to a time when thought is free: From the age of uniformity\, from the age of Big Brother\, from the age of doublethink… greetings!’ \nAward winning Box Tale Soup present a stunning new adaptation of Orwell’s dystopian classic. Known for their ingenious sets and slick storytelling\, Box Tale Soup’s unique puppetry becomes a striking metaphor for Orwell’s chilling vision of power and control. \nThe year is 1984\, perhaps – it is impossible to tell for certain. We are being watched\, Big Brother is everywhere\, truth changes daily\, and everyone conforms. But for Winston Smith\, insignificant cog in the Party’s vast machine\, this half-life is not enough. He dreams of freedom\, but is he the only one? Dreams can be deadly when rebellion begins with a thought.\nFeaturing the voices of Sophie Aldred & Joanna Lumley\, with Simon Russell Beale as the voice of Big Brother.

SUMMARY:Hamlet
DESCRIPTION:The Royal Shakespeare Company returns to Norwich with a ‘must-see’ (Guardian) new production of Hamlet. \nHamlet’s mother has married his uncle\, and at a less than decent interval since the death of his father. As he pulls at the threads of his not-so-happy new family\, Hamlet unravels a web of deceit and immorality that leads to the ultimate crisis of conscience. \nFresh from its run in Stratford-upon-Avon\, this ‘scintillating new staging’ (Financial Times) of Shakespeare’s famous revenge drama visits Norwich Theatre Royal as part of a major national tour.

SUMMARY:Palestine: Peace de Resistance
DESCRIPTION:Off the back of a sold-out London run and critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe\, Sami Abu Wardeh’s hit show blends resistance\, identity\, and ‘defiantly goofy’ comedy (★★★★ The Guardian). You can run from resistance\, but it will always catch up with you – as Sami Abu Wardeh finds out in his critically acclaimed show\, fresh from winning a Bestie Award and Mervyn Stutter’s Spirit of the Fringe at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. \nAs a Palestinian born in exile\, only to be displaced from his country of birth by yet another war\, Sami digs deep into his ties to resistance and Palestinian identity. What emerges is bold\, playful and utterly original: a show that asks whether resistance can be funny\, and answers with laughter. \nThis is comedy where silliness collides with survival. Expect an open call for mass civil disobedience\, equitable distribution of hand puppets\, and some of the silliest faces you’ll ever see.

SUMMARY:RSC First Encounters with Shakespeare: King Lear
DESCRIPTION:Lear thinks he will live out his old age with all of the comforts of kingship\, and none of the responsibility. But the eldest two daughters\, Goneril & Regan\, have other ideas in mind – and he has given away all power to stop them. His vanity has devastating consequences for family\, nation and climate. \nOur First Encounters with Shakespeare production\, makes Shakespeare’s play about family\, power and betrayal relevant for a new generation of theatregoers. \nThis 80-minute version of King Lear uses an edited version of the original play to create the perfect introduction for young people aged 7-13 and their families. \nThe tour of First Encounters: King Lear is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England\, which makes it possible for the RSC to expand its tour to work in partnership with more places across England.
