SUMMARY:Discovering the Secret's of Britain's Ancient Buildings
DESCRIPTION:Extra NORWICH date added due to popular demand – don’t miss out this time! \nDr James Wright’s new book The Building’s Archaeologist is coming to Norwich!\nI have had the pleasure of organising the Norwich date for this book tour\, which will feature studies of Norfolk buildings and beyond! \nDiscovering the Secret’s of Britain’s Ancient Buildings \nWhy do we know so little about the ancient buildings which surround our everyday lives? \nBritain can be justifiably proud of approximately 500\,000 listed buildings. Yet as many as 60% may have been identified incorrectly. Behind a Victorian façade is a Tudor house. Underneath a Georgian frontage is a mediaeval cottage. What is now a farm was once a castle. Many buildings\, hundreds of years old\, are entirely unlisted. \nHow can a nation\, so obsessed with history\, have missed so many ancient buildings? \nThe Buildings Archaeologist is the first book in over a quarter of a century which offers clues for discovering the secrets of Britain’s ancient buildings. It looks at the ways in which historic architecture has been observed\, studied\, and conserved. The puzzles surrounding why some buildings were listed and others overlooked will be solved. It acts as a field guide to the written records\, tree-ring dating\, and archaeology which help us to investigate the age\, development\, and social history of ancient buildings. These include houses\, castles\, churches\, mills\, factories\, and warehouses hidden in plain sight. \nJames Wright will explain the fascinating\, enigmatic\, and surprising world of The Buildings Archaeologist using case studies drawn from Norfolk and beyond. There will be a major case study of Lydes House at Barnards Green\, near Great Malvern. This event will be part of a nationwide tour linked to his new book. \n─── \nThe speaker\, James Wright (Triskele Heritage)\, is an award winning buildings archaeologist. He has over a quarter of a century of professional experience of ferreting around in people’s cellars\, hunting through their attics and digging up their gardens. He hopes to find meaningful truths about how ordinary and extraordinary folk lived their lives in the past. He is the author of The Buildings Archaeologist which will be released by The History Press in October 2026.

SUMMARY:Our Christmas wish for Kit-Beau
DESCRIPTION:The Community Promise Christmas Wish 2026 🎄 \nThis Christmas\, we’re coming together once again to make a very special wish come true for a local Norfolk family. \nThe Community Promise Christmas Wish is our annual community fundraiser\, created to bring people together and make a real difference to a family facing an incredibly difficult time. \nThis year\, we’re fundraising for Kit-Beau\, a two-year-old Norfolk boy living with cancer\, and his family. Our aim is to give them a Christmas filled with love\, kindness and memories to treasure — while also surrounding them with the support of their local community. \nLast year\, our Christmas Wish raised over £1\,800 for a local family. This year\, we’re hoping to go bigger and better\, bringing together local businesses\, families and individuals to help us create something truly special. \nOur Christmas event will be filled with festive fun\, fundraising activities\, games\, prizes and plenty of Christmas spirit\, with 100% of our fundraising going towards this year’s Christmas Wish. \nWhether you’re joining us on the day\, donating a prize\, contributing to the fundraiser or simply sharing our story\, every single bit of support helps. \nBecause sometimes\, the greatest gift you can give someone at Christmas is simply reminding them that their community is behind them. ❤️ \nTogether\, let’s make Kit-Beau’s Christmas Wish come true.
